We have started meeting with the parents in different communities where Alma has been implementing our programming. Recently we went to the community of Huathua Laguna, district of Quiquijana, province of Quispicanchi.
The road to this community is already rough and because of the continuous rain, the road was incredibly slippery. We almost got stuck on the road but we were able to arrive and meet the parents at the Institution Educational Huathua Laguna. The parents welcome us with their chantings: CHAYARAMUSKANQUICHIS! (They have arrived!) and WATURACAMUHUASKANKIKO (You have visited us) and the students were very happy to receive us and see their teachers Gustavo and Susan.
The parents had many questions about the project. We had great conversations and reflected on both the achievements and the difficulties of the project last year. We are happy to continue the project in this community and that the parents are so happy and supportive of the program. It is so rewarding to see how involved and deeply grateful the parents are. They not only recognize the hard work that the Alma Foundation has done to create, finance, and execute this project, but they also see the effects that the improved quality of education in Huathua will have on the region.
